Sledgehammer Games is a game developer that was founded on July 26, 2009 by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey.[2] It is based in Silicon Valley, CA.
Before forming Sledgehammer Games, employees of the studio had taken part in developing titles such as Dead Space, Ratchet and Clank, and Afro Samurai.
The studio's introduction to the Call of Duty series was Call of Duty: Vietnam, which they were developing in 2011 until it was put on hiatus and subsequently cancelled. Sledgehammer was switched off of the project to work with Infinity Ward to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Sledgehammer became part of the Call of Duty development cycle with the development of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. On April 21, 2017, Call of Duty: WWII was announced, with the worldwide reveal on April 26, 2017.
